For as long as she could recall, Rachel always dreamt of living the American Dream, an unrealistic dream for many Vietnamese orphans to envision growing up. While the future was uncertain, she always wanted to move to the United States and knew that academic excellence would help her get there. Fortunately, Rachel found a permanent home in the land of opportunity in Spring of 2002 when Ann took the eleven-year-old under her wings.
A decade after her big transition, Rachel developed a charismatic and sociable personality that led to the discovery of her passion. She was inspired by many musical influences to become a performer, not only with hopes to unite people, but also inspire them and most importantly, put a smile on their face with what she had to offer.
Although many opportunities presented themselves, Rachel diligently focused on her education, due to the importance it played in her upbringing. By the time her college career came close to an end, Rachel had applied the knowledge she earned with the experience she gained, and in doing so, she created a business from scratch with the assistance of Ann.
Having spent half of her life in the nation's capital, Rachel selected this particular business name with 'Pho of the Nation' in mind; hence, Phonation.
Phonation was created with an innovated vision where Rachel hopes to unite people through the famous and authentic taste of Vietnamese cuisine: pho and banh-mi. The menu also features a Mexican and Vietnamese fusion cuisine called the Burrito-Banh-mi that was inspired by a former employee. All that tasty freshness originally found in the famous BBQ pork and chicken banh-mi can now be savored in a simple tortilla.
Rachel and her entire staff hope that you will enjoy your experience and the exquisite taste that Phonation has to offer!
